Opening a bank account[edit | edit source]

You will need a bank account (Konto) for receiving remuneration or for transferring rent and to cover other payments/expenses. It makes sense to compare banks as they offer different services at different prices. You will need to present the following documents when opening a bank account:

  • Valid form of ID or passport
  • Proof of registration from the citizen office (Meldebescheinigung)
  • Letter of Confirmation from Otto-von-Guericke University of Magdeburg
